locomotor apparatus (the musculoskeletal system).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Orthopedics<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"zoom filet alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chu-poitiers.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/radio3.jpg\" alt=\"radio\" width=\"180\" height=\"199\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\" \/>is a surgical specialty enabling correction of \u00a0<span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>defects of the locomotor apparatus that are either inborn or acquired during growth periods or adulthood \u00a0<\/strong><\/span>(bones, joints, muscles, tendons and nerves).<br \/>\nIt involves surgical treatment of ailments and impairments of the upper limbs (shoulder, elbow and hand), the lower limbs (hip, knee, ankle and foot) and the spine.<br \/>\nPatients are admitted following external consultation for scheduled surgery.<\/p>\n<h3>Traumatology<\/h3>\n<p>is the specialty covering <span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>accidentally acquired injuries of the locomotor apparatus\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(fractures, dislocations, sprains, wounds, injuries to the noble structures: arteries, veins, nerves, tendons).<br \/>\nTrauma patients are more often than not admitted following treatment in the emergency unit.<br \/>\nThe different specializations of the practitioners in the orthopedic-traumatology unit help to optimize the quality of patient treatment and to have successfully performed the \u00ab\u00a0recourse\u00a0\u00bb tasks with which a university hospital center is entrusted.<br \/>\nFour major fields of activity have been defined:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>hand and upper limb surgery,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>corrective lower limb surgery, foot surgery,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>spinal surgery,<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>surgery for bone and joint infections, and treatment of complex wounds.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Even though each surgeon has developed a specific field of competence, the orthopedics-traumatology team remains multivalent, and each surgeon can effectively ensure treatment of all the above-mentioned pathologies.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>HAND AND UPPER LIMB SURGERY<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Emergency telephone number : 05 49 44 47 Roth.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hand and upper limb surgery entail both scheduled surgery and traumatology.<br \/>\nScheduled surgery involves pathologies of the hand and the wrist (carpal tunnel, trigger finger, Dupuytren&rsquo;s contracture, arthrosis, De Quervain tenosynovitis, synovial cyst&#8230;), of the elbow \u00a0 (ulnar nerve compression at the elbow, epicondylitis or \u00ab\u00a0tennis elbow\u00a0\u00bb, arthrosis&#8230;) and of the shoulder (rotator cuff tear, calcifications, subacromial impingement, shoulder instability, glenohumeral osteoarthritis).<\/p>\n<p>Arthroscopic techniques are used at the level of the shoulder, particularly in rotator cuff and shoulder instability surgery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\"
