PRESENTATION OF THE DEPARTMENT

Location

The medical and surgical cardiology department is located in the cardiovascular center, on the Milétrie site.

The medical and surgical department is part of the heart-lungs-vascular center, along with pneumology, vascular surgery, sport medicine and functional respiratory exploration.

Twenty-four physicians work alongside three cardio-thoracic surgeons, and they are assisted by 30 nurses and one hundred auxiliary nurses.

The department is one of the only in France to bring together, with a single identity, both medical and surgical treatment.

cardioDealing with emergenciesFor the newly admitted patient, intensive cardiological care, the operating theaters and post-cardiac surgery reanimation, interventional cardiology, interventional rhythmology and the technical exploration platform are all close at hand .

The men and material are ready for every emergency and always determined to gain time, when time is of the essence.
Thanks to this proximity, different specialists can exchange advice and opinions at any time.

A coordinating nurse ensures a relay between the cardiology unit and physicians exterior to the CHU, who always have the same interlocutor in the department  with a direct line of communication, whatever their request: advice, hospitalization, consultation…
